The Great Scare

On our way down south we made a bunch of stops. One of those stops happened to be in Marseilles. How come nobody ever warned us about that place? As we drove through we realized something was very wrong. We immediately felt unsafe. We went to a kosher restaurant and thank god were able to find a spot right in front so we could watch our van. When we left, we were going to go through a national park and stop somewhere over night with the van. However, as we started driving and checking out campsites on our apps we kept seeing the same reviews, theft, robbery, cars that were broken into. All these comments were at the spots near Marseilles which is when Yehuda decided no matter how long it took we would drive through the night to get somewhere safe. So, as we’re driving through the mountains and these little villages at night, Yehuda started to notice this light had been following us for a while and it hasn’t caught up to us yet (which is very unusual for Europe since  everyone drives really fast and always passes us on the road). Yehuda decided to start driving extremely slow so there’d be no way this person wouldn’t catch up to us and pass us. As he rounded a corner he caught up to us since he didn’t realize we slowed down so much. Yehuda waves him to pass us but then he drove up alongside our window and kind of gave us a thumbs up as if asking us if we were good (very clever rouse). Yehuda kept waving him past us and then finally he went in front of us but went really slow. At that point this man on his motorcycle was in front of us and a car pulled up behind us. The motorcycle moved to the side of the road and started going slow again, the guy reached into his jacket and I was so scared that he had a gun… I quickly looked up the number for the French Police. Thank god he didn’t have a gun, at least not one that we saw and Yehuda floored it to get away from them. They continued to follow us until we got to a traffic circle and Yehuda decided to actually go fully around the traffic circle and then the car went one way and the motorcycle continued straight but I saw him try and watch us to see which way we were turning. That move literally saved us and got them off our tail. Yehuda drove until 2:30  in the morning when we finally felt safe enough and felt like we were far enough away from Marseilles to be safe for the night.

A Bientot!
